Today we’ve had the last visit at Kajetany, for final processor adjustments. It means that two years have passed since the activation of the second implant. This time all three of us paid a visit. We came as usual in the morning, registered in reception and were pointed to the implant department. It all started with follow-up visit to the ear doctor. Continue reading “PROCESSORS ADJUSTMENTS”
VISITING MED-EL HEADQUATER – AUSTRIA
In May 2016 our whole family participated in touring trip around Austria. It was organized by a cochlear implant producer, MED-EL company (Hela has their implants). Twenty people took part in this five-day trip, along with our MED-EL “guardians” – Kasia and Agnieszka. There were two implanted adults among us, along with five families with implanted kids, including Hela and us 🙂 We’ve traveled by bus, the journey was quite long, but we’ve spent our time together very positively, we got to know everybody. KAJETANT’S REHABILITATION CAMP IN ŁEBA (APRIL 2016)
Hela’s had hearing rehabilitation at Kajetany since she was four months old. We’ve systematically attended her classes. I was willing to use the rehabilitation holidays back when Hela didn’t have her implants, but they kept telling me it was too early for her, the child needs to have an implant for some time before going on such trip. WINTER BREAK – A TRIP TO MEXICO
The winter break started very optimistic, we were healthy and fully ready to travel. There are thoughts that always appear in my mind before such departures – “what if processor broke”? So before leaving I’ve checked where the nearest Med-El in Mexico is and assumed that we would get there if there was any malfunction. I tracked their branch about 200km from our hotel. WINTER OF 2015/2016
The beginning of winter felt more like a spring. Hela had a cold few times and I’ve noticed that in 50% of cases her illness was spreading into an ear inflammation. It’s highly worrying, because whenever it happens she always has to take antibiotics… Agata’s never had an ear inflammation, but it happens to Hela few times a year, usually during a cold. I begin to think it might have some connection with her surgeries or implants. Continue reading “WINTER OF 2015/2016”
HELA IS 3 YEARS OLD, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Hela’s turned three. The time passes so quickly and I can tell it heals all wounds. Three years ago, when we found out about her hearing impairment, it was terrible news and the future appeared bleak. Today I can say without any hesitation that we’re very happy people. Continue reading “HELA IS 3 YEARS OLD, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”
MOUNTAIN TRIP
Together with girls we’ve decided to go on a 5-day trip to the mountains, to Szczyrk. It was very intense and tiring at times, but the girls were thrilled. We had many events planned everyday, so those days were passing very quickly and were filled with many activities. We’ve borrowed special tent for Hela to enter, so we could wander around the mountains. Continue reading “MOUNTAIN TRIP”
